Casa Voladora was designed by an award-winning Austrian architect to bring the area’s natural beauty right into the house. He designed the house in a European style - - - simple and elegant in its construction and furnishings. There are breathtaking views from every window and terrace. A tropical forest surrounds the back of the house, providing privacy and a front row seat to Costa Rica’s exotic plants and wildlife. The house has one private bedroom on the second floor, which is an intimate and romantic setting with several private terraces, including one off the master bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave oven, toaster oven, refrigerator, coffee-maker, and all plates, pots, pans, utensils, etc. There is one full bathroom and also an outside secluded shower in a natural setting.
The house has hot water throughout, including the outside shower. Air conditioning is not necessary as the house sits on the top of a ridge and enjoys a constant fresh ocean breeze. Numerous windows and ceiling fans also provide for excellent ventilation. Maintenance is provided by an on-site person who has looked after Casa Voladora for twenty years. Casa Voladora is a splendid place to relax and appreciate Costa Rica’s natural beauty. In the morning you will awaken to the exotic songs of rainforest birds and the sounds of rolling waves from the sea below. Occasionally you will hear howler monkeys in the distance (sometimes not so distant) giving their morning salutations. Often there are toucans in the palm trees around the house. If you’re lucky you might even see white-faced monkeys, squirrel monkeys or sloths dangling and jumping from the trees around the house. You can have your morning coffee on the terrace and enjoy the fresh breeze as you take in the spectacular view of Manuel Antonio Park and Playa Espadilla. On occasion you will be joined by a pair of awesomely beautiful Scarlet Macaws like the ones in the photo below.
The house sits on the top of a ridge and is accessed by a series of 128 steps leading from the parking area up to the house. The walk up the stairs is rewarding as it provides you with the wonderful aroma of tropical flowers blooming alongside the walk and the fantastic view on top. There is an electric elevator basket designed to carry luggage and supplies that runs up the side of the hill to the house. Manuel Antonio National Park is one of Costa Rica 's best known and most visited parks. The area is home to over 353 species of birds.
Howler, orange-backed squirrel and white-faced monkeys, two-toed and three-toed sloths, coati-mundi and raccoons frequent the areas around the house and the beaches.
